Look at what some amazing young people created at a drop in spray painting workshop I lead at the Celebration of Care event on Friday with @the_lowry . A sunny evening bursting with colour and excitement to create and have fun. It is always a pleasure to be involved in this wonderful event for care experienced children. I am always blown away by the level of talent and young artists in the making when I work with The Lowry. I was inspired by the natural flair and experimental making on Friday, here are some of the highlights.

A sunny evening bursting with colour and excitement to create and have fun. It is always a pleasure to be involved in this wonderful event for care experienced children. I am always blown away by the level of talent and young artists in the making when I work with The Lowry. I was inspired by the natural flair and experimental making on Friday, here are some of the highlights.

A proud moment was had yesterday visiting the Open Exhibition @homemcr with my dear friend and most dedicated cheerleader @mixia_doodle. My painting Where the Wild Winds Wane is on show and is surrounded by some other amazing artworks by local artists. The exhibition is a real treat for the eyes, I highly recommend going to see it. You will find such an array of different styles and art forms to feast your eyes on. And many are up for sale too. It was a lovely surprise to see mine has sold. I will miss it hanging in my living room but luckily have painted another in this series which will now hang in its place. I have walked away from the exhibition very inspired to create, which is how I plan to spend my Sunday afternoon.

I’ve facilitated spray painting workshops over the Summer with @createcharity in a mental health inpatient ward for young people, @the_lowry with their creative group for care experienced young people and @gorsehillstudioscc for pupils from Stretford High. We created bold, textured artworks using acrylics, found objects, spray paints and stencils. These workshops always go down so well and the pieces look so striking and impressive!

The power of image making, reflection and connecting to creativity should not be underestimated. A year of discovery, insight and introspection. Where the Wild Winds Wane.

A recent large scale painting exploring one side of a fork in the road in my life. On one side I could see a path well trodden as fair as the horizon, taking that path was safe, secure, predictable, but it was to lead me over fields which had fallen fallow. The other is a wild and overgrown path over unsteady stepping stones and a stream into tall grass with trees looming overhead. The winds were turbulent. This path was unclear, covered in dancing shadows. This path felt risky, filled me with fear but it was full of life and movement. It was lush with possibility, growth, opportunity. Seeing this imagery in front of me rather than just in my mind, it was clear now which direction I needed to take. I'd have to forge my own path through the wild landscape to see what potential lay in its overgrowth. Amazing things can happen when you walk into the fear.

A lovely December selling at arts markets, teaching mosaics and lantern making, bought a van in Jan, turned 30, went adventuring in the van with my man, made some boss clay animals with 7-11 yr olds, taught lino printing and more mosaics and even more lantern making with @createcharity and to top it all off some more adventuring in the hills! It's amazing what being creative, fresh air and a hike in the wilderness does for the soul. Looking forward to another trip away with @lilynorwood this weekend and to paint some of the scenery I've photographed!

Here's a peak at some work in progress shots of me and some young people working on a mural @gorsehillallotmentassociation funded by @righttothestreets_ it has been an absolute dream creating this mural for the lovely people of this allotment. I don't know if it is the fresh air or vegetables they grow but they really have been the most generous and welcoming community. This mural has been inspired by the beautiful things grown on the allotments so it was important to capture the stunning colours and shapes you find wherever you turn. If you can go have a nosey!

I finally finished the mural on a rare day of stunning sunshine the other day when the birds were singing and so we're the fans- United were at home. I didn't manage to get a photo of the final piece as it was dark but hoping to get one soon if the sun comes back out!

Working on a new painting after collecting some new inspiration in the Shropshire hills. Nothing like a weekend of yurt life, rambling, climbing, cocooning and gratitude to get the creative energy flowing.

A rock with a view.

I've been walking off an old me recently. There's still a way to go but I've been trying to find space, slowing down, shaking off expectations, taking time for things and people that really matter to me, reflecting on where I'm at and who I am. I've been opening myself up to possibilities, taking risks, letting creativity flow back into my life and taking the path less troddon to realign with what I want and my values.

Nature has this amazing power to refocus the mind and instill gratitude. I've been lucky enough over the summer to spend some time with family, travel, be slammed by crashing waves, take a fresh dip in a lake, watch the big orange moon rise over the hills in wonder, gaze up at the sky scattered with stars and satellites, climb big hills, get lost watching the flames of a campfire, eat and laugh with the people (plus dog) I love the most.

There's nothing like a bit of nature and a good old stomp, it always helps me find perspective, come back to equilibrium and find that spark of inspiration again.

Watch this space for lots more paintings, I feel a few bubbling away ready to spill out onto a canvas, wall, shipping container, sculpture, anything I can get my mits on really!
